Meatballs in Creamy vs. Tomato Sauce

A quick and easy recipe with ready-made meatballs.

Ingredients:

For Meatballs in Cream Sauce:

  • Frozen meatballs – 500 g
  • Cream (20–30%) – 250 ml
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Onion – 1 pc
  • Hard cheese (parmesan or any favorite) – 50 g
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg – to taste
  • Fresh dill or parsley – for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Fry the frozen meatballs in a skillet without oil until slightly browned. Remove from heat.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add finely chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until golden.
  3. Pour in the cream, and season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Simmer over medium heat for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce on low heat for 10 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with grated cheese and garnish with herbs before serving.

Enjoy! Serve with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.


For Meatballs in Tomato Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • Frozen meatballs – 500 g
  • Canned tomatoes or tomato sauce – 400 ml
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Onion – 1 pc
  • Basil (fresh or dried) – to taste
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Salt, pepper – to taste
  • Fresh herbs – for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and fry the meatballs until golden brown. Remove from the skillet.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté finely chopped onion and garlic until softened.
  3. Add tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes, along with salt, pepper, sugar, and basil. Simmer the sauce over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the meatballs into the sauce, cover, and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Enjoy! This dish pairs perfectly with spaghetti, bulgur, or polenta.
